POSE MSK aka Jordan Nickel b. 1980
Known for traditional fine art as well as murals and sculptures, Pose is considered a name in Chicago's graffiti scene. Pose earned a degree in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2004. In 2005, he and artist/photojournalist KC Ortiz founded We Are Supervision, a creative agency that focuses on large-scale, hand-painted signs and billboard mural painting.
Pose has been featured in multiple issues of Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine and is most know for his work's bubbling colors, hidden characters, and intricate design, making him popular amongst both graffiti enthusiasts and in the fine art world. Shepard Fairey has described his work as “a hybrid of the aesthetics of pop art, graffiti, sign painting and comics that are all areas of his interest done in his own style.” In 2013, he teamed with artist Revok to paint the historic Houston and Bowery Wall where Keith Haring and Juan Dubose once collaborated and following this, he was named one of CNN’s Ones to Watch in 2014.
Pose's sculptures and paintings have appeared in books, magazines and films as well as galleries and private collections and has painted murals in Tahiti, Dubai, Melbourne, Spain, South Africa, Polynesia, Brazil. Additionally, Pose is a member of the West Coast artists’ collective Seventh Letter as well as MSK (Mad Society Kings).
